Who Can Become a CASA
An individual may become a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) who - Is at least 21 years of age
- Is able to commit a minimum of 24 months to the program and to the child(ren)
- Successfully completes an application and screening process
- Demonstrates the capability to adequately advocate for a child or children
- Has no criminal record or history with a child protective service (CPS) organization
which impairs his or her ability to be appointed as a CASA - Successfully completes 30 hours of required pre-service training
- Is sworn-in by a Benton County Judge
- Review and evaluation of the written application
- Written reference checks (3)
- Criminal history check
- Pre-service interview
- Training (the pre-service training also serves as a screening process)
- Post-Training interview
